Somali Forces Kill 10 Al-Shabaab Militants in Central Somalia Clash

on Tuesday, at least ten al-Shabaab militants were killed during a heavy clash with Somali government forces in central Somalia, officials confirmed. The fighting took place in the Galgadud region, following an attack by al-Shabaab on a rural area between the towns of Bod and Budbud.

According to Ahmed Abdulle Adan, a local government official, the Somali National Army successfully repelled the assault, leading to the deaths of ten militants. The military is now conducting operations to pursue remaining members of the extremist group who fled the area.

No casualties were reported among the government forces, Adan added. The clash, which lasted nearly an hour, involved the use of a variety of weapons on both sides, further emphasizing the intensity of the battle.

The Galgadud region has been a hotspot for al-Shabaab activities, but Somali security forces have intensified operations to root out the group, which continues to destabilize parts of the country. Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated militant group, has been waging a deadly insurgency against the Somali government for over a decade.
