Mogadishu, Somalia (AQRI.net) — Jubbaland State President Ahmed Madobe has extended an invitation to federal lawmakers representing Jubbaland to attend a consultation meeting in Kismayo, following a similar move by Puntland’s administration. The meeting, scheduled from November 8 to 11 in Jubbaland’s provisional capital, aims to address Somalia’s evolving political landscape and its implications for the region.

In a letter issued on Sunday by the Office of the Jubbaland President, lawmakers from both the Upper and Lower Houses were called to discuss the growing tensions between regional states and the federal government. This comes just hours after the resignations of two key federal ministers from Jubbaland—Deputy Minister of Education Ahmed Isman Ibrahim Daqare and Minister of State for Planning and International Cooperation Abdirashid Jire Qalinle. Both ministers accused the federal government of exacerbating conflicts with regional administrations, particularly SSC, Puntland, and Jubbaland.

The call for consultations mirrors Puntland’s recent action, where lawmakers were summoned to Garowe on October 22 to discuss the electoral process and the widening rift with the federal government. Both Jubbaland and Puntland have boycotted recent National Consultative Council meetings in Mogadishu, highlighting the increasing strain in federal-regional relations.
